On the sidelines of the “Invest Sri Lanka” Investment Forum held in Melbourne from 18 to 21 August 2026, the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Melbourne facilitated business meetings for the Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development of Sri Lanka, Chathuranga Abeysinghe.
During the meetings, the Deputy Minister engaged with prospective Australian companies that had expressed interest in investing in Sri Lanka across a range of sectors, including food and beverages, energy, manufacturing, logistics, technology and tourism.
The Deputy Minister provided an update on emerging investment opportunities in Sri Lanka and highlighted the country’s ongoing economic recovery and progress towards achieving renewed and sustainable economic growth.
The meetings provided an opportunity to explore increased bilateral trade and investment, encourage Sri Lankan businesses based in Australia to expand their operations and investments in Sri Lanka, and identify potential areas for collaboration between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Australian business community. Representatives of Esprit Bentota, Earth System, Elegant Media, ThiRU Labs and Acacia Hotel Services participated in the meetings.
Consul General, Pradeepa Saram, and Consul, Fazil Farook, were also associated with the meetings.
