Ministry Website Secures Silver Award at BestWeb.LK 2026

The official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, www.mfa.gov.lk, received the Silver Award in the Best Government Website category at the BestWeb.LK 2026 Awards Ceremony, held on 12 August 2026 at Monarch Imperial.

This marked the first occasion on which the Ministry received national recognition at the BestWeb.LK Awards representing an important milestone in its digital transformation. The award recognized the progress made in strengthening the Ministry's digital presence and developing a more secure, accessible, reliable, and user-friendly online platform.

This national recognition reflects the vision of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, and the collective efforts of the Ministry officials involved in the planning, development, content preparation, translation, review, testing, and implementation of the website, with the support of the Frontwalker (Pvt) Lt, website developer.

BestWeb.LK, conducted by the LK Domain Registry, is Sri Lanka's premier web competition, recognizing excellence in website design, technological performance, content, user experience, accessibility, and innovation. The Best Government Website category recognizes public sector websites that demonstrate effective delivery of information and services to the public.

The revamped Ministry website launched on 18 May 2026 was developed as part of the Common Website Platform Development Project, which also seeks to bring Sri Lanka Missions and Posts abroad under a secure, standardized, and centrally managed digital framework. The platform is designed to improve the accuracy and consistency of official information, strengthen accessibility and website security, and facilitate efficient delivery of information and services.

The Ministry remains committed to continuously improving its digital presence and completing the Common Website Platform Development Project by 31 August 2026, with the objective of bringing all Sri Lanka Mission and Post websites under a unified, efficient, accessible, and citizen-centred digital framework.
